THEMED "One Heritage, Harmony & Hope", George Town celebrated the culmination of a month-long Unesco World Heritage Site anniversary with much fanfare last Saturday and Sunday (July 25 and 26). The theme reflected George Town’s “diverse cultures, religions and beliefs, making it a unique melting pot where people of different races co-exist in peace and harmony”, stated CM Lim Guan Eng at the launch event.

This multicultural heritage could be seen throughout the two-day celebration as many parts of the heritage enclave played host to a mélange of festivities. The revelries included Islamic music performances and an exhibition highlighting Islamic culture at the Acheen St Mosque, Teochew opera at the Goddess of Mercy Temple, a Hokkien puppet theatre show at the Cheah Kongsi on Armenian Street, Indian dance and classical Music at the Sri Mariamman Temple, performances at the Street of Harmony, etc. View slideshow below for photos on some of the events.
