Gerakan: What happens now?

GERAKAN'S extraordinary general meeting has ended, with doubts still lingering over the embattled party's future. Penang Gerakan chairman Datuk Dr Teng Hock Nan may have survived the the motion of no-confidence against him, but he still faces a significant number of party members deeply unhappy with his leadership, with a difficult election on the horizon. NI to invest more
 
National Instruments (NI) will begin the construction of a US$40mil manufacturing facility in Bayan Lepas, Penang, within the first half of 2011. “About US$80mil has been allocated for our operations in Penang over a 10-year period. Some US$40mil of this amount is for the manufacturing facility, which is the first phase of the project,” said NI (Penang) managing director Rajesh Purushothaman. Rajesh added that 28% of NI's revenue comes from the Asia-Pacific region in the first half of 2010, an increase of 3% since last year. Read here.

Meanwhile, Pentamaster Corporation Bhd has announced its proposal to dispose of its Penang assets for a total consideration of RM50mil. The company says the reason for the disposal is primarily to reduce its collaterised loan obligation due in October 2011. Read here.
